How to setup receipt and kitchen printers

To add and configure the receipt and kitchen printers associated with the posIPOS Point of Sale app installed on each iPad, you must login to the posIPOS app with a username that has a Manager role. Users that have the Cashier role will not have permission to change the receipt and kitchen printer settings.

First, make sure the printers that you want to setup are ON, and that they are connected to the same wireless network as the Ipad. Please read the Hardware Guide to view the supported POS printer models, and to find instructions on how to setup various Star Micronics and Epson POS printers and add them to your network. It is highly recommended to assign static IP addresses to your printers on the network, otherwise the printer's IP address might change at any time, and you will need to run this printer setup dialog again.

After you login to the posIPOS app on the iPad, press on the Printers button on the bottom of the main screen, and the printer setup dialog will be displayed. The posIPOS Point of Sale app will automatically discover the supported Epson and Star Micronics printers that are connected on your wireless network. This printer discovery process runs automatically in the background when the printer setup dialog is displayed, and it can take up to 2 minutes for the posIPOS app to discover all the available printers.

To add a receipt or kitchen printer, select the printer from the available printers list, and press the corresponding Add as Receipt Printer or Add as Kitchen Printer button next to the list. You can add one Receipt Printer and any number of Kitchen Printers for each iPad, so if you already added a Receipt Printer and you want to change it, you must first remove the already configured Receipt Printer.

Alternatively, you may enter the Printer's IP Address and Model manually in the corresponding fields, and press the same Add as Receipt Printer or Add as Kitchen Printer button. However, this method is not recommended, as it can lead to errors.

After you have added a receipt or kitchen printer, you can print a test receipt, and you can also remove it at any time. Just select the printer from the list of installed printers, and press the Print Test Receipt or Remove Printer button next to the list.
